A useful website design quotation tells you what will be built, what you will pay now and what you will pay again later. Send suppliers the same written brief; otherwise, two quotes for “five pages” may describe different work.

Website design quotation sample: a five-page business site
This example uses Growth Masala's Starter package. It explains the offer, but is not an accepted project quotation. The page list is illustrative. Delivery dates, revisions, payment milestones and the final invoice need confirmation for your project.
| Quotation item | Example answer | Confirm for your project |
|---|---|---|
| Pages | Home, About, Services, Work or Gallery, Contact | Final page names and content on each |
| Design | Custom design and mobile layouts | Approval process and revision allowance |
| Website copy | Copywriting included | Business facts, photos and approvals you supply |
| Customer enquiries | WhatsApp enquiry button | Any separate form and its delivery destination |
| Search setup | On-page SEO basics | Launch checks and how they will be verified |
| One-time build | ₹9,999 excluding GST | Final payable amount and payment milestones |
| Domain and hosting | Separate at cost | Initial charges, renewal rates and account owners |
| Launch support | 30 days after launch | Coverage and how to report an issue |
| Optional ongoing care | From ₹1,499 per month excluding GST | Whether you want it, its scope and billing start |
| Additional work | Quoted separately before work starts | Extra pages, editing tools, bookings or integrations |
See the five-page website cost guide for package inclusions. An online store, booking system or custom application needs a different scope. Do not compare its quote directly with a brochure-site price.
The brief to send before asking for quotes
Describe what a customer should be able to do on the finished site. “A modern website” leaves each supplier to interpret the work. Include:
- 1.Business and customer: what you sell, where you serve customers and who will use the site.
- 2.Main action: call, start a WhatsApp conversation, submit a request, book a confirmed appointment or buy online.
- 3.Pages: list them by name. Five service sections on one page are different from five separate service pages.
- 4.Features: specify forms, an editable blog, catalogue, payments, logins, languages or integrations.
- 5.Content: identify the text, photos and logo you already have, and the material you need help producing.
- 6.Existing setup: list any domain, hosting, website or business email that must keep working during the change.
- 7.Timing and handover: state your desired launch date and ask what depends on your approvals, access or content.
The editable quotation brief turns these questions into fields you can fill in. It asks suppliers to return their scope, charges and exclusions. Keep unconfirmed items visible until you agree how to handle them.
How to compare website design quotes
Put supplier answers side by side using our free quote-comparison worksheet. Its supplier columns are blank: an unknown charge is not free.
| Compare | Ask each supplier | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| One-time work | Which pages and features does this price deliver? | A brochure site and an editable catalogue are different scopes |
| Content | Who writes, uploads and approves text and images? | Missing content can delay launch or require extra work |
| Enquiry flow | Does the form send, store or only prepare a message? | A success message alone does not establish delivery |
| Recurring costs | What renews, when and at what rate? | Introductory prices may differ from later years |
| Ownership | Who controls the domain, hosting, files and editing accounts? | Handover should explain your access and ability to move |
| Support | What is included, for how long and what costs extra? | Launch fixes and ongoing changes may have different terms |
For example, suppose one quote includes copywriting and another expects you to supply finished text. Ask the second supplier to price that work, or decide that you will write it. Repeat this check for each difference that matters before comparing totals.
Calculate first-year and renewal costs separately. Add the build once. Record domain, hosting, paid tools and selected care for the relevant period. Ask for tax treatment and the final payable total. If the renewal rate is unconfirmed, the later-year total is still unknown.
Our website running-cost calculator uses Growth Masala's build and care packages plus the domain and hosting amounts you enter. Estimates exclude tax and assume unchanged annual rates. Use the worksheet for other suppliers or varying renewal charges.
Questions to settle before accepting a quotation
A low quote is not automatically poor value, and a higher price does not prove quality. Resolve unclear promises in writing:
- “SEO included”: ask for launch deliverables. Titles, headings and crawl setup differ from an ongoing campaign; neither guarantees rankings.
- “Unlimited changes”: ask what counts as a revision, when approvals happen and how a new feature is priced.
- “Free hosting”: ask how long it is included, what renews, who controls the account and how the site can move later.
- “You own the website”: ask what is handed over, whether third-party licences transfer and which accounts you can access.
- “Contact form included”: ask for a demonstration of successful delivery to the agreed destination. A WhatsApp button opens a conversation; the visitor still needs to send the message.
- “Ready in a week”: identify which content, credentials and approvals must arrive first, and what happens if they are delayed.

Frequently asked
What should a website design quotation include?
List the agreed pages, features, design and writing scope, one-time price, tax treatment, recurring charges, account ownership, revisions, delivery conditions and launch support. Ask the supplier to mark unknown costs as unconfirmed rather than zero.
How do I get comparable quotes for website design?
Send each supplier the same page list and feature requirements. Ask for separate build, domain, hosting, paid-tool and maintenance charges, including renewal rates. Compare the written scope and handover terms alongside the total, then resolve anything marked unconfirmed.
How much is a five-page website quotation from Growth Masala?
Our published Starter build is ₹9,999 excluding GST. It includes five agreed pages, custom design, copywriting, mobile layouts, a WhatsApp enquiry button, on-page SEO basics and 30 days of post-launch support. Domain and hosting are separate at cost. Your project quotation confirms the final scope and payable amount.
Does a website quote include hosting and maintenance?
Only if the supplier explicitly includes them. Growth Masala bills domain and hosting separately at cost. Optional care starts at ₹1,499 per month excluding GST. Included launch support and paid ongoing care are different, so record both the scope and duration.
Can I download the website quotation template without signing up?
Yes. Download the editable text brief without entering an email address, fill in your requirements and share it with the suppliers you choose. It contains no preset prices or payment terms. The separate CSV comparison worksheet is also free to download.
